Notes:
n1/ Data are preliminary for 2017-2018-2019.
n2/ Costa Rica held in 2011 the X National Population Census. One product of this census was to develop population projections, which involved a historical review of the major components of population change. In March 2013 the INEC in association with the CCP published a new series of population estimates and projections for 1950-2050. Therefore per capita figures published by the BCCR ranged from July 31 2013 were updated.
n3/ The new series of population can be found on the web site www.inec.go.cr in the population and demographics “Población total por sexo, según años calendario 2011-2050”.
n4/ Data from 1991 to 2011 with the reference year 2012, correspond to a chained time series of the 1991 base year. This chained process includes changes on either methodological and classification that can produce differences in levels as well as in the percent change when compare to the original 1991 base year time series, which was in place for that period.
